Does Karma Really Exist?

Does Karma Really Exist?

I am currently listening to an audiobook, ’The top 10 things dead people want to tell YOU', by Mike Dooley. One item he talks about and I liked the way he explained it so I wanted to share it with you is

Does Karma really exist? The answer is Yes and No.

Karma is often considered what we do to others is what will come back to us. So, if we are kind then kindness comes back, so if we are ‘unkind’ then we are likely to attract unkind experiences and feelings and have them come towards us also, which is true…….

However, there is a further experience in our many lives that we also agree to and this part is not Karma as such, although it may feel like it, it is to ensure that we (our soul) get to experience every aspect of life, how it feels to be happy and depressed, to be included and isolated, abundant and destitute and so on, the duality of life.

What is being referred to here is ‘the spiral of life’. As we move tighter and tighter in the spiral of life towards pure love, peace, joy and enlightenment, we need to have experienced many other emotions too. To truly experience, know and understand these ‘higher emotions’, we also need to have experienced other emotions such as shame, guilt, desire, fear, anger, courage etc as only then can we truly experience such peace and pure love, remove judgement and allow compassion, kindness, forgiveness and love to be the experience we are and where we come from.

I am not saying that the terrible events in life need to happen, not at all, there are definitely ways to experience different events in life without such turmoil, however we do need to experience the ups and downs in life to enrich our souls’ journey and experience.

The Spiral Of Life and Emotional Wisdom

The part of this that I find empowering is, (when we know we have come into this life with an agreement between ourselves and those close to us), it allows us to be aware that it is up to us to own each experience we have in this life, remove the blame, as blame is something outside of us, something we can’t control, which can make it feel like the person or situation has a control over us.

However, once we own it, (‘I experienced this’), we may be able to see that this occurred to allow us the opportunity to learn, grow and navigate life differently, to expand our experiences and feel the emotions and move through them and move ourselves along the emotional ‘view of life’ the spiral of emotional wisdom.

I haven’t quoted Mike exactly, but expanded and separated the idea as he did, highlighting that there is Karma as such (which feels like it is outside of you), but really everything that occurs in our life is from us, it is us, it is not something outside of us. Although we may not like the way the experience has shown up and presented itself, we will learn and grown from it, as long as we keep moving and return to love and acceptance of ourselves, seeing the bigger picture.

Sometimes these experiences are so big it is hard to feel and connect with loving ourselves again, and we feel we are not worthy because of them, yet we are so worthy. Sometimes it takes support and guidance of others to bring yourself back to self-love to be able to re-connect with loving ourselves again.

If this is something you would like to explore further for yourself, I can support you with this.
