Healing doesn’t mean the pain never existed. It means the pain no longer controls our lives.
In life, we have painful or traumatic situations that occur and the emotions associated with these events can impact us in a way that the emotional memory of the incident can actually get stuck in the body.
When emotional pain is not released, the energy associated with this can show up in the physical, forcing us to slow down and give the issue attention. What once, may have been an emotional issue is now showing up in the physical body so it can no longer be ignored, dismissed or be ‘too busy’ to care for ourselves. It is now demanding attention. The body is showing you what it needs to heal.
Our physical body can appear to heal from incidents, but the emotional scars still remain
This can show up in many different ways, stress, anxiety, migraines, (reoccurring) injury or pain in any part of the body, illness or disease. Life keeps showing us what it is we need to learn and release to further understand our life journey and purpose.
What we resist, persists.
By now the physical body, as well as the emotional well being, are out of alignment with our purpose and our love of life. It presents us with the opportunity to become present to the issue and take responsibility for it. This doesn’t mean, if something happens to us, we must accept it as our fault, rather we can choose how we want to feel about it and allow the pain of the past to release. Allowing our self to become who we want to be for the future, rather than continuing to make decisions for the future from painful past emotional experiences.
Let go of the past, but keep the lessons it taught you.
There are many reasons why we hold onto emotional trauma and not deal with it at the time or the age when the incident occurs. These may include, not being able to talk about it, shame, not knowing how to get support, not being aware that incident affected you the way it did.
Taking responsibility for ourselves and knowing that we have everything already in us that we need to grow and heal ourselves is very empowering.
At times, we need support from someone on our healing journey, I know I needed support to release old painful memories and to feel understood. Allowing these emotions to be released, while feeling and being supported in a trusted space, allowed me to find and reveal a more authentic self.
